Our Fabric Types

Made to withstand the test of time. Our curtains, blinds and cushions are crafted from the finest materials, chosen for their style, quality and durability.

Woven

Due to the nature of some weave constructions, raised yarns/threads may pull or tear if caught on jewellery, buttons, or other sharp objects. We also advise you to choose fabric appropriately with consideration of pets in the home/environment.

Linen

Linen is made from the fibre of the flax plant. It is highly absorbent and durable and is one of the strongest natural fibres with two to three times the strength of cotton. However, linen has poor elasticity and does not spring back readily, making it prone to wrinkles and creases.

Cotton

Cotton is a very strong fibre and stands up to abrasion to wear very well. Cotton is also an absorbent fibre, but not very resilient and therefore prone to wrinkles. As cotton can withstand relatively high heat, ironing easily smooths wrinkles. Steam should be avoided to prevent shrinkage.

Velvet & Pile

Velvet and pile fabrics (eg chenille and microfiber suede) may show variations in colour and texture with the intention to create a more luxurious appearance. The yarns in these fabrics suede flatten and move creating irregular surface appearance and texture. These surface variations are the nature of the fabric and should not be considered faulty or defective. Pile distortion alters the angle of light reflection producing more obvious areas where the fabric has moved creating an appearance of shading or napping. Pile fabrics created using shiny yarns such as rayon or viscose further amplify light reflection and create even more obvious areas of light and dark patches. Velvet and chenille have a high abrasion resistance but are often not resilient to moisture from spillage or perspiration. This, in combination with pressure from sitting (including stocking & bare feet), may cause marking and shading as the pile crushes.

Sheer Voiles

Sheer Voile is a soft, sheer fabric, usually made of cotton or cotton blended with linen or polyester. It is a transparent, lightweight fabric that acts a wonderful light filter. A sheer curtain would still allow sunlight to enter your room, but would act as a light diffuser, softening the natural light. Sheer Voiles are a great choice for elevating a room and adding light, flowing texture. They are popularly used to provide a level of daytime privacy without blocking out the light.

Sheer Voiles work particularly well in the wave heading as it supports the modern, smooth flowing design.

Linings

As a luxury brand, all Just curtains and blinds can be lined if desired. As well as enhancing the look of them by adding structure, depth, and weight, they are all practical.

Lining gives curtain fabrics better protection from the sun and offers increased privacy by blocking out extra light and sound. All rooms can look uniform from outside your home as lining gives the same appearance on any design. The extra layer that lining provides also helps insulate your rooms more.

Woven Poly Cotton Lining

Our cotton lining helps curtains and blinds drape smoother and is made of cotton and polyester sateen, with a smooth, luxury feel. Keep cool on warm nights thank to the cotton, stay warm on colder ones with the polyester bringing a degree of insulation.

Silky Soft Blackout Lining

Less than 2% of light gets through our special blackout lining. It is densely woven, and a fine coating is applied which block the tiny pores in the weave. The almond-ivory blackout lining provides a nice neutral colour for your curtains, and we only use a ‘Silky Soft’ range so your curtains can still flow within the pleats/folds whilst being supported and blacking out maximum light.

Our blackout lining is an ideal choice for bedrooms but be aware that some light may still seep through your windows around the edges of your curtains or blinds but especially through eyelet heading and recess fitted blinds.

Blackout blinds will also help keep your rooms warmer in winter, with our silky soft lining blocking the gaps between the threads of the main fabric, reducing the escape of insulation.

Premium Luxe Thermal Lining

Thermal linings on curtains and blinds can boost energy efficiency in your home. Our premium thermal option comprises 99% polyester and 1% aluminium, giving up to a 10 times greater energy saving than conventional lining. The aluminium coating reflects heat back into your room in winter and reflect irradiated heat out in warmer months.

Interlining

Interlined curtains and blinds have 3 layers – the main fabric and lining, plus an interlining sandwiched between the two. This provides added warmth and volume to your curtains, as well as reducing noise too. Enjoy more rounded and fuller pleats with interlining, enhancing the standout feature of your curtains. Due to the thickness of the 3 layers, we would not recommend interlining a triple peat curtain.
